Ineke Hans

Maison&Objet Designer of the Year

The start of this new decade has coincided with the recognition of the professional trajectory of one of the most international figures of French design, Philippe Starck. Media-friendly and innovative, for over thirty years this designer and architect has undertaken projects of all types: from the decoration of hotel and restaurant interiors in Miami, New York, Tokyo and Madrid to the creation of a varied range of objects such as furniture, household accessories, watches and glasses. Starck participates in the will to democratise design to allow it to reach the highest number of people without renouncing the best quality. In previous years the Prize to Designer of the Year has gone to outstanding figures of the international scene such as Jasper Morrison, Alfredo Häberli, Konstantin Grcic and Patricia Urquiola.

Paris des chefs

The second year that the fair has hosted this event, created with the intention of bringing designers and chefs together to debate the relationship between contemporary cuisine and creation. During two days, 500 people were able to participate in a series of open talks among 12 international chefs and 12 designers, architects or photographers. They discussed different approximations to design and cuisine, a discipline that is undergoing continuous innovation with regard to new spaces, new flavours and new presentations. The schedule of talks was organised by Maison&Objet in collaboration with the Omnivore gastronomic portal.
