Michael Anastassiades, Designer of the Year

17.01.20 - 21.01.20

Maison & Objet was the first fair at which Michael Anastassiades presented his eponymous brand in 2007. It was an important time for the Cypriot designer born in London, since it gave him a chance to define and develop the identity of his brand.

Now, most aptly, he is coming back as Designer of the Year in January 2020 edition. In the interval, he has become one of the most poetic and prolific lighting designers working today. His lamps illuminate hotels, restaurants and shops all over the world, and his works form part of the permanent collections of New York's Museum of Modern Art (MoMa), the FRAC Centre in Orleans, France, and the V&A Museum and Crafts Council in London.

Since 2015, this international design and interior decoration trade fair chooses a "Creator of the Year" for each one of its two annual editions, a “product designer” profile in January and an “interior decorator” profile in September.

During the next edition of M&O, Anastassiades will present for the very first time all 16 of his Mobile Chandeliers together in a dark space, where the lights, propelled by motors, will move as if planets.
