Nautical interior design: reinterpretation of the concept of on-board space

Over 60 years, the outstanding stylised contours of Sanlorenzo boats have marked the continuity and consistency of this prestigious Italian shipyard engaged in the design and production of luxury yachts and super-yachts.

Each one of their models is the result of a painstaking and detailed artisan process combined with advanced, environmentally sustainable technologies that reduce emissions and increase safety, efficiency and convenience. Even so, this nautical “atelier” boasts yet another more than emblematic hallmark up its sleeve…

It was the year 2008 when Sergio Buttiglieri, creative director of Sanlorenzo, contacted Piero Lissoni to ask him to take on the company’s artistic direction; the goal was to create boats with bespoke, exclusive interiors that would answer each client’s requests.

The result? A veritable revolution in on-board aesthetics.

The collaboration of interior designers, architects and designers of the stature of Antonio Citterio, Rodolfo Dordoni and Piero Lissoni together with cutting-edge companies such as Minotti, Vitra, Roda, B&B Italia, Cassina, Flos, Paola Lenti and Boffi have led to eschewing conventional formats and materials in favour of new, more flexible and lightweight components, adapting special fabrics, new lighting technologies and premium-quality furnishings as well as incorporating iconic Italian designer pieces to create sophisticated ambiences and unique and welcoming spaces at sea.
