μ [mu], ceramic tiles with cromatic effect

SEP/2017

The Mosa μ [mu] floor ceramic tiles subtly shift shades during the course of the day, as the hours pass. Inspired by the extraordinary relationship between light and the colour spectrum, the Dutch ceramics manufacturer’s joined nature, art, trends in architecture and the ancient Greek philosophers’ visions on the subject. The result are these tiles that cleverly respond to a setting's changing light.

The surfaces created by Mosa’s specialists absorb certain colours and reflect others, playing with light waves and the different tones they produce. Each tile is a combination of many different colours; an optical blend of millions of brightly tinted grains made by mixing ceramic pigment with clay.

The series, rewarded with a Red Dot Award, includes tiles in one size (60x60cm) and four shades: white, light grey, grey and brown. As well as taking their cue from illumination, distance and angle also have an effect in changing the colour—including the shape of a room and the size of each ceramic area—. Nearby objects and materials also play a key role in the appearance of μ, as the tiles are designed to pick up on other colours within the same space.

Mosa μ offers endless design possibilities and allows unprecedented freedom of expression. A dynamic experience that will redefine the perception of space and time.
