Brief history of … ARCHITECTURE

AUG/2017

Teresa García Vintimilla, an architect and writer of numerous blogs on architecture, steps back from a traditional vision to explain the history of architecture through the historical, moral and ideological circumstances that have forged architectural creation over the centuries.

This brief history shows the different construction techniques and materials, whose diversity essentially depends on the technological level and variable needs that the society possesses or requires. The overview starts with the settlements of primitive man and moves on to the architecture of the pharaohs, the Mayan, Aztec and Inca cultures in America, the architecture of symmetry and equilibrium in Asia, the beauty of Greece, Roman architecture and engineering, Romanesque and religious architecture, the Gothic period, Renaissance and Baroque architecture and covers 20th- and 21st-century independent architecture in which the constructions reveal the genius individuality of the director architect and creator.
