Connections between reality and virtuality

ABR/2017

A majestic inflatable structure over 4.20 metres tall, made up of 10 huge balloons, interconnected and covered in the latest Sunbrella fabrics, shaped the artistic installation ‘Connexions’ that the indoor and outdoor textiles manufacturer presented at Superstudio Più in Via Tortona, Milán, during the 2017 edition of Milan Design Week.

The project carried the signature of the French photographer and artist Charles Pétillon. In order to contextualise and evoke a meaningful interpretation of the fabrics, the structure was transported and photographed in various different indoor and outdoor spaces. The installation walls were covered by this series of artistic and poetic photographs as well as a video showing behind-the-scenes footage of the photographic session.

The aim of Charles Pétillon and Sunbrella with this project was to show ‘connexions’ between reality and virtuality, art and industry, materials and their relation to the world.
