Unusual football fields in Bangkok

OCT 2016

Although for now everything suggests that they will be unable to enter in official competitions, the children of the Khlong Toei district will play vibrant matches in some unusual pitches that the developer AP Thailand, together with CJ Worx, have recovered in this neglected part of Bangkok.

Football is the country’s most popular sport and the construction of areas for enjoying it was the principal request put in by the district’s youngest neighbours. The available areas did not appear to be much in line with normal standards, and so AP Thailand and CJ Worx devised what they called unusual football fields: pitches that adapt to each sector’s plane geometry.

An urban development project that highlights how the limits of a space do not have to straitjacket their use. Different areas without a specific prior use have been recovered so that children and teenagers can enjoy the city’s most creative football.
