ATEG Awards to Galvanisation 2016


The Information provisional point of Glòries square in Barcelona, by the architects José Manuel Toral Fernández, Marta Peris Eugenio and Izaskun González Barredo (PERIS + TORAL Arquitectes) has been the winner project ot the seventh edition of the ATEG Awards to Galvanisation.

These awards, instituted by the Spanish Technical Galvanisation Association (ATEG), recognise constructions, civil works and urban equipment that have made a significant or novel use of galvanised steel.

The second prize went to the work “Water Reservoir, in Cáceres” by Ignacio Mendaro Corsini, José Ignacio Isasi Zaragozá and Blanca Rosa Gutiérrez Rodríguez.

The Special Asturiana de Zinc Award went to the project “Electrical Installations Industry, in Badajoz” by José Mª Sánchez García. Two honour mentions have also been awarded, to “Hábitat Warehouse, in Tarragona” by Ferrán Grau Valldosera, Xavier Bustos Serrat and Nicola Regusci, and “194 P.P.A.O.C.J. Dwellings, in Carabanchel, Madrid” by Francisco Burgos Ruiz and Ginés Garrido Colmenero (Burgos & Garrido Arquitectos Asociados practice).

At this edition, the jury was chaired by Francisco Javier Martín Ramiro, assistant director-general for architecture and construction of the Ministry of Development, and comprised of Antonio Cerezuela, architect of the Higher Council of Spanish Architects’ Associations (CSCAE); Jon Montero, architect and adviser on architecture and interior design works of On Diseño; Héctor Fernández Elorza, architect and first-prize winner in the ATEG Awards’ 2010 edition; and Javier Sabadell Melado, managing director of ATEG.

The presentation of the awards and accrediting diplomas of these distinctions will take place in a formal act during the last quarter of this year.
