Designs with an industrial character

APR/2016

An exhibition of engravings, wood and painted metal furniture by Donald Judd, a fundamental artist in 20th-century US history of art.

The selection of painted metallic furniture, so characteristic of his work, replicated Judd’s way of building and producing his famous coloured boxes. Exposed screws, paint also used on industrially-produced objects and the fact that this is unlimited-production furniture rather than closed editions revealed the industrial nature of his designs.

The show was completed with engravings, which are colour plates on which the artist repeats forms. Colour and the definition of lines were the only variants.
