IMM Cologne 2016

ON359 - MAR/2016

Cologne was once again the epicentre of the furniture and decoration industry in late January. Nearly 120,000 professionals from around the world came to the German city to view the latest trends in furniture and decoration accessories presented by the 1,185 companies from 50 countries that were exhibiting at the trade show.

In addition to the products on display, some of the most prominent events at IMM were “Das Haus – Interiors on Stage”, simulating a stroll around a home and this year designed by Sebastian Herkner, and the “Smart Home”, a special LivingInteriors exhibition in which numerous companies showcased solutions that are already available on the market for intelligent homes.

This staging has confirmed the rise in the use of natural materials such as wood, glass, stone or metal in furniture design and even the use of tree bark applied to wall decoration. Also on the increase compared to previous years is the design of mid-century furniture. Either because of the efficiency of their materials, their delicate outlines, their elegance or the feeling of nostalgia they produce, the designs from the 1950s are back stronger than ever, denoting value in times of uncertainty.

The next staging of IMM Cologne will take place from 16 to 22 January 2017 together with LivingKitchen.
