Gabriel Cualladó, Alberto García-Alix, Joan Colom, Ferran Freixa and Chema Madoz are some of the Spanish photographers who have already taken part in the Maridajes (Pairings) series of exhibitions organised by Bodegas Roda in collaboration with Foto Colectania Foundation. In its seventh edition, this series focuses for the first time on the work of two Portuguese photographers: Gérard Castello-Lopes and António Sena da Silva. Both were devoted during the nineteen-fifties to capturing the essence and contrasts of the city of Lisbon as well as the passing of time on its streets, people and customs. They also shared their fascination with the photographic current of the Decisive Instant, represented essentially in Cartier-Bresson, and its capacity to create photographs that breathe a natural look as well as contained beauty. The exhibition also permits observing how Castello-Lopes portrays the movement of the city through its shops, people and everyday work, while Sena da Silva dos so through inclined planes on cobblestones and other urban details.
From 16 November to 30 April 2011.
