DOCfield Barcelona 2017

Barcelona’s documentary photography festival is staging its 5th edition with a reflection on travelling motivated by choice or need, and how the resulting itineraries and encounters transform human and geographical identity.

DOCfield Barcelona 2017 presents a total of 27 exhibitions, 7 of which form part of the official section articulated through the DOCfield Route in which you can do a “trip” by following a central axis from Diagonal-Paseo de Gracia to Colón and includes the following spaces: Palau Robert, Espai Mercè Sala, Universitat de Barcelona, FNAC Triangle, CC Pati Llimona, Arts Santa Mònica and Barcelona’s Maritime Museum.

Beyond the 7 exhibitions on the DOCfield Route, the festival extends its programming with 20 shows in guest venues, free audiovisual screenings at the Nits DOCfield evenings, a street programme with DOCfield Carrer and the Photobook DOCfield Dummy Award Fundació Banc Sabadell, the call for which is open until 27 October.

As a novelty, this year sees the presentation of the DOCfield PRO professional session open to photographers, journalists and communication professionals from the third sector and culture. Organised by Photographic Social Vision and Oxfam Intermón, this new section will feature projects, organisations, collectives and people who have connected with their audience through innovative strategies such as the Proactiva Open Arms NGO, the Verkami collective funding platform, the digital transformation of The New York Times or the importance of the virtual spokesperson in crisis communication of the Mossos d'Esquadra Catalan police, among other cases.

DOCfield Barcelona is organised by the Photographic Social Vision Foundation, a not-for-profit body committed to disseminating the social value of documentary photography and photojournalism.

From 19 October to 30 November 2017
