Foto Colectania and the role of the photographer today

Colectania  presents “I wanted to be a photographer”, a collective exhibition forming part of this year’s theme, “But what is photography?”, which invites us to reflect on the image in contemporary creation.

The eleven projects selected by the curators Fannie Escoulen and Anna Planas, which are shown on both the walls and in book format, dissect the profound changes occurring in the actual definition of the photographic act.

The variety of projects in the exhibition shows very different approaches, whether political, poetic or extravagant but always paying homage to photography, its technique and its aesthetic, thus showcasing the increasingly open limits of creation.

The participating authors are: Laurence Aëgerter, Antoine d'Agata, Roger Guaus, Mishka Henner, Sherrie Levine, Michael Mandiberg, Doug Rickard, Thomas Ruff, Oliver Sieber & Katja Stuke, Stéphanie Solinas and Jan Hofer & Severin Zaugg.
