The Vitra Design Museum presents #itsalldesign Bauhaus, a comprehensive exhibition of the Bauhaus legacy that encompasses less prominent cases in the fields of design, architecture, art, film and photography. At the same time, the exhibition confronts Bauhaus design with current debates and trends through the works of contemporary designers, artists and architects.

The exhibition is divided into four themed groups based on an overview of the historical and social context of the Bauhaus. A second section examines Bauhaus designer objects as well as their background and influence in the fields of art, crafts, technology and industry. Another of the exhibition’s areas investigates the topic of space and demonstrates how many different designers became involved in formulating the comprehension of Bauhaus design, including artists from the theatre, architects and artists who developed theories on colour and spatial models. The last section deals with Bauhaus communication, from typography to art exhibitions, experimental film and photography as well as the creation of myths and clichés on the Bauhaus.

#itsalldesign Bauhaus is an exhibition staged by the Vitra Design Museum and the Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany (Bundeskunsthalle). After its debut at the Vitra Design Museum, the exhibition will open at the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn in the spring of 2016.

From 26 September 2015 to 28 February 2016.

Charles-Eames-Straße 2, Weil am Rhein, Germany
